Frequently Asked Questions

How do your auctions work?

We hold 2 online auctions each week. All items come into our facilities where we unpack & sort through them, lot them up and then we catalog each lot with photos & a description of the item(s). Every Friday we post the auctions for the following week. Customers are able to bid for the next 5-6 days and view items in the catalog or in person at our facilities. Auctions are set with a set closing date that at the given time, will turn into real-time bidding. Once the auction has ended, customers are able to pick their items up or choose to ship.

Are you still holding Live Auctions?

Currently all our auctions are online. We hold 2 weekly online auctions with a preview day every Wednesday.

How can I bid online?

You can bid one of two ways.

  • Our favorite way to bid is to download our Green Valley Auctions App on your smartphone or tablet. Simply go to your App store and search for “Green Valley Auctions” and download.
  • You can also bid using your desktop computer by going to the Upcoming Auctions page on our website.

I’ve never bid online before, is there someone who can help me get started?

Absolutely! We would love to help you create an account and get set up for bidding. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it!

We are open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and you are welcome to stop by at any point for assistance.

Does Green Valley offer shipping services?

Shipping must be arranged by customer.

We use the UPS store for most shipping of small and fragile items. If you would like to have your items shipped please contact our local UPS store and ask for Peter. You will arrange and pay for shipping via him and we will release your items to him from that point.
Phone: (540) 434-9400 | Email: store6595@theupsstore.com

Buyer is responsible for all shipping, packing and transportation fees.

I don’t have a computer, smartphone or internet access. How can I still participate in your auctions?

There is an option for you!

We host preview each Wednesday which allows customers to come in and see all of the items on display for that week’s auctions. Once you decide what you want to bid on, you can leave an absentee just like old times. We will call you to let you know if you are the successful bidder.

What does “Soft Close” mean?

Our auction platform utilizes a staggered closing and auto-extend bidding.

Staggered closing allows only 3 lots to close each auction. If a lot is up for closing and it has active bids being placed on it in the last 60 seconds of closing, it will auto-extend the lot by 60 seconds. It will continue to auto extend the lot until the time runs out and no more bids are placed. ,In short, our auctions do not close all at once and typically take about 2-2.5 hours to close depending on the amount of lots in each auction.

If I win at item, how can I pick it up?

We hold pick up by scheduled appointments every Thursday from 10-4:30 and Friday from 10-6:00 p.m. You can always find our pick up information for each auction either in the Terms & Conditions of each auction or in the first lot of each auction with the ‘Important Please Read’ icon.

Do I have to register with my credit card?

Yes, we require all bidders to register with a credit card for each auction. All transactions are done by credit card and your card will be charged at the close of an auction if you are the high bidder.

Can I just put a credit card on file instead of entering a card for each auction?

No, you must register with you credit card each time. We require a credit card to be entered for each auction for security purposes. This also allows you to choose which card you would like to use if that changes per auction.
