Welcoming the New Year with Thanks

1 · 14 · 20

We kicked off the New Year with our Employees and the Employees of our sister companies, Green Valley Moving & Our Daily Bread Catering! We spent the evening celebrating our employees (and their families) and all that they bring to the table. We are so thankful for each and every one of them. Without the individual strengths and characteristics of each person we wouldn’t be who we are. Whether they work a couple hours a day or 40 hours a week, we couldn’t do it without them.

With a house full of 80+ adults and kids and a 16 foot Christmas tree – it was loud, warm and full of Christmas spirit (even though we were a week behind schedule). With the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season we thought it would be nice to extend the parties into the New Year so more would be able to attend and we would have a fresh start of getting back to work with good mindsets and….full bellies.

The evening was full of laughter, friendship and a time to put away the work gloves and enjoy each other. Special guests from Second Home joined us and serenaded us with their beautiful Christmas carols.

Elizabeth with Our Daily Bread Catering and along with some of her helpful friends

catered a delicious meal for us that left us wishing the night wouldn’t end. Lastly, to end the evening we sat down for a 45 minute magic show from Wes Iseli Musician and Illusionist. This was the highlight of the  night for all the kids. From a dove appearing out of play dough to cards moving across the room – one little guy went home and told his mom, “I think Magic really is real, Mom!”.

Aside from the magic, the night was filled with good friends, better friends and a reason to celebrate. 2019 was good to us and we look forward to what 2020 has already done and will continue to bring forward to us.

For those who know us, you know that Second Home is very important to us. They are a local organization that focus’ on a community supported, affordable, and academically focused before and after school care program supporting some of the most marginalized families in Harrisonburg, VA. It creates a safe and nurturing place for children to go after school while their parents are still at work. Second Home offers homework help, social and life skills, character building, healthy lifestyle’s, and career exploration activities. Read more about them on their website and find ways that you can help to support them and be involved!
