HORN OF PLENTY, extremely important rectangular honey dish and cover with unrecorded original undertray.
Lot #91, $14,000 - Important Flint from the Anne W. & Mahlon K. Robb Collection of Bellfonte, Pennsylvania - Sold October 2, 3 & 4, 1998 Catalog Description: Dish: 6 1/2" l, 4" w, 3" h, Overall height with lid 5 1/2". Tray: 7" l, a4 1/2" w, 1 1/4" h. Overall height with lid and tray 5 3/4".
Condition: Considering the unique form of this dish and the over abundance of scallops and edges, I would rate its condition as truly outstanding. The dish itself has one scallop with two flakes and several other minor insignificant flakes on the rim. One rim corner has what appears to be a chip, but under examination with a loop it is my opinion that this probably happened when it was removed from the mold, based on the observation of an emanating surface annealing line and mold crevice. One base corner has a chip and one other has a flake. Two of the corner waist edges have a spot of mold roughness. The lid rim has a flake on one edge along with two chips and the expected flaking underneath. The tray is almost mint, having only a few minor scallop flakes and a very minor amount of mold roughness. References:
Please note that none of the known references for this piece picture or mention the existence of an undertray.

Provenance: Purchased in 1984 from Lil-Bud Antiques who acquired it when they obtained Judith Cronin's private collection earlier that same year. A copy of the Lil-Bud purchase slip will accompany this lot.
Note: The extreme rarity of this piece coupled with the fact that it is the only known complete example ranks this as one of the most important and desirable pieces of EAPG to come to the market in many years.
