BLOWN-MOLDED GII-29 SQUARE PINT DECANTER (Lot #1 - $7,700), deep brilliant emerald green, plain base with rough pontil mark, lacking stopper. 1825-1835. 7 1/8" h, 2 5/8" sq. Two minute rim nicks, sickness to top of rim, slight sickness to top of shoulder. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Reference: McKearin Am. Glass, p. 287, "only one known". BLOWN-MOLDED GII-6 GLOBULAR PINT BOTTLE (Lot #4 - $3,850), sea green, applied rolled lip, concave plain base with rough pontil mark. Probably Kent, Ohio. 1825-1835. 7 1/2" h. Undamaged with very light scratching and residue inside neck, along with a hint of high-spot wear. Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Reference: Parallels McKearin Am. Glass, pl. 117, fig. 2. BLOWN-MOLDED GII-21 PUNCH BOWL (Lot #31 - $5,500), colorless, rim folded outward, 18-diamond base with applied foot. 1825-1835. 6 1/4" h, 9 1/8" d rim, 5 1/4" d foot. Undamaged with expected wear to interior bottom. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Reference: Parallels McKearin Am. Glass, pl. 109, fig. 5. Note: This recently discovered bowl represents a seldom encountered form in outstanding condition. SANDWICH PRESSED HEN COVERED DISH (Lot #156 - $4,950), brilliant medium blue, cover with complex molded straw rim, dish with drape panel sides and waffle pattern base. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1850-1870. 5 3/4" h overall, 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" base. Outstanding condition, cover with a chip to back side of beak and comb, and two shallow chips to edge of rim, base with just a minute flake and hint of mold roughness. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Reference: Parallels B & K III, figs. 3253, 3254. Note: An outstanding example of an extremely desirable and rarely encountered Sandwich product. SANDWICH PRESSED CAVALIER POMADE JAR (Lot #158 - $4,950), translucent starch blue, marked "E. T. S & Co / NY" under base, crown of hat and plume form cover. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1850-1870. 3 3/4" h. Excellent condition, base with four shallow chips under edge of brim which only slightly disfigure the profile, cover with two small chips under rim. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Reference: B & K III, fig. 3260. Note: An outstanding example of a seldom encountered jar. IMPORTANT STRAWBERRY DIAMOND, SCROLL AND ROSETTE NAPPIE ON FOOT (Lot #185 - $8,250), colorless, nappie center with an eight-petal rosette on a lined background and surrounded by a strawberry diamond band, rim with two adjacent scallops reeded underneath alternating with a single plain point. Nappie joined directly to a heavy base, probably hand pressed, which rests on six low disks that were ground and polished after annealing to level the piece. Base interior features a ring of prisms and a rough pontil mark. New England. 1828-1830. 4 1/8" h, 9" d rim, 4 1/4" d base. Outstanding condition, rim with one top-edge chip and some light flaking/mold roughness, none of which disfigures the profile, base with only a small area of mold roughness. Note: This recently discovered specimen is previously unrecorded and possibly unique. It is an exceptional example of the pioneering period of American pressed glass. LACY TOY SMALL COVERED TUREEN WITH UNDERTRAY (Lot #222 - $2,090), canary, varying motifs of fans, lilies, scrolls, stars and diamonds. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1835-1850. 2 1/4" h overall, 1 7/8" x 3" overall. Outstanding condition, cover with very minor edge flake and light flaking/mold roughness under edge, tureen with shallow chip to outer rim and some very minor flakes, tray with very minor mold roughness. THREE-PRINTIE STAND LAMP (Lot #284 - $3,850), whale oil/fluid period, sapphire blue, blown-molded font blown directly onto a pressed hexagonal base with an oval indentation on interior beneath font-base connection, pewter collar. American Flint Glass Works, South Boston. 1845-1860. 10" h, 3 7/8" d base. Proof with only a hint of base mold roughness. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Reference: Acorn, Vol. 12, p. 62, fig. 24. Provenance: Property of a Milwaukee, WI estate. Note: This size of lamp from the American Flint Glass Works is seldom encountered. JUMBO - CANTON HONEY / BUTTER DISH (Lot #1245 - $1,650), finial with slightly irregular frosting, knife rack, drain hole not punched out. Canton Glass Co. 7 3/4" h overall, base 3 1/4" h overall, 6 1/2" x 7 1/4" base, 4" x 4 7/8" lid rim. Outstanding condition having only normal shallow chips/mold roughness under handles and knife rack, mold roughness to feet and handle. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Reference: Parallels Canton, photo 2. Provenance: Collection of Dr. Larry McCallister. Note: This example was most likely intended to function as a honey dish because the drain hole was not punched out. This is the first example of this dish that we have sold. THREE FACE QUART / MILK PITCHER (Lot #1303 - $2,970), engraved stylized floral design, face at base of handle. Geo. COIN STAND LAMP (Lot #1345 - $3,740), frosted half-dollar coins, flared font, No. 2 Taplin-Brown collar. 11 1/2" h, 5 1/2" d font, 5 5/8" d foot. Two shallow chips and a small bruise to stem platform. Estimate: $400 - $600. Provenance: Collection of Dr. Larry McCallister. GREELEY - BROWN GOBLET (Lot #1414 - $2,090), . 6 1/4" h. Undamaged except for two small areas of mold roughness to pattern. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Reference: Lindsey, No. 287. Provenance: Collection of Dr. Larry McCallister. Note: This is the first example of this extremely rare goblet that we have sold. UNLISTED NATURALISTIC LION GOBLET (Lot #1432 - $3,520), three panels, each featuring a lion in varying pose within a natural setting including palm trees, separated by fanciful decorative elements; a band of thumbprints surround the lower portion of the bowl. Six petals cover the base of the bowl continuing to the knopped stem and onto the circular foot. 5 7/8" h. Chip to knop. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Note: This previously unrecorded goblet features numerous design elements, including exceptional detail, which strongly suggest an Iowa City Glass Co. attribution. EARLY THUMBPRINT SPHERICAL COVERED COMPOTE (Lot #1633 - $24,200), seven rows of thumbprints, 32-scallop rim, double-step hollow stem with 12 flutes, circular foot with 24 scallops and single row of 24 thumbprints underneath, cover with ribbed finial, wafer construction. The cover is 3/16" smaller in diameter than the base and the metal is somewhat more brilliant. Bakewell, Pears & Co. 20" h overall, 13" h base, 11 1/8" d base rim, 10 15/16" d cover rim, 7 1/4" d foot. Base unbelievably undamaged except for a minute rim flake and manufacturing chip to edge of one thumbprint, cover with normal chipping, several of which are into the lower thumbprints, however the profile of the rim is not disfigured, inner flange with underfill but no chipping. Note: This and the following compotes represent one of the most important and iconic specimens of American pressed glass. Various size examples reside in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and The Corning Museum of Glass. This is first example of this, the largest size, that we have sold. In addition, we could not locate another of this size ever coming to auction. The complete set is illustrated and cataloged here for the first time. EARLY THUMBPRINT SPHERICAL COVERED COMPOTE (Lot #1634 - $10,450), seven rows of thumbprints, 32-scallop rim, double-step hollow stem with 12 flutes, circular foot with 24 scallops and single row of 24 thumbprints underneath, cover with ribbed finial, wafer construction. Bakewell, Pears & Co. 18 1/4" h overall, 11 3/4" h base, 10 1/8" d rim, 7" d foot. Exceptional condition, the base with only a chip to the outside rim and two small open bubbles on rim, the cover with light chipping to teeth, two of which are into the lower thumbprints, the profile of the rim is near perfect and the inner flange is undamaged. EARLY THUMBPRINT SYRUP JUG (Lot #1639 - $5,225), four rows of thumbprints between upper and lower ribs, bold applied hollow handle, 12-petal base, original Britannia hinged top. 8 1/2" h overall, 7 3/4" h handle, 3 1/4" d base.
