- HEPPLEWHITE MAHOGANY INLAID SIDEBOARD ATTRIBUTED TO WILLIAM WHITEHEAD ($8,000), serpentine front with recessed cupboard, bellflower inlay on legs, fine crotch-figured veneers, poplar and pine secondary. Late 18th c. 40" h, 67 1/2" w, 28 1/2" d. Restoration and replacements to legs and top, some patches to veneers and inlay.

- GEORGE III MAHOGANY INLAID BREAKFRONT BOWED SIDEBOARD ($7,000), single center drawer with tambour cupboard below, flanked by a pair of drawers, four strings of inlay on top, replaced hardware. Second half 18th c. 36" h, 67" w, 25 1/2" d. Excellent condition, minor losses and repair.

- AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGINIA WALNUT PIE SAFE ($4,200), case with two doors and turned legs, single large joined tin on each door and end hand-punched with stars and rosettes, divided interior with each side having two shelves, yellow pine secondary, original old finish. First half 19th c. 57" h, 54" w, 23" d. Old repair to hinges on right door, minor damage to end tins.
Provenance: Found in the Sangerville area of Augusta County, where numerous other closely related examples have surfaced. |

- 1810 ROCKINGHAM COUNTY VIRGINIA FRAKTUR ($3,000), printed text with free hand watercolor decoration of tulips and other floral blooms, executed in red, blue, green and yellow, attributed to Peter Bernhart. Early 19th c.
6 3/4" x 8 1/4". Several small splits/tears, foxing and light staining, good color.
Provenance: This is a previously unrecorded Bernhart fraktur which was recently discovered in a Wenger/Blosser family Bible. |

- SAMPLER ($2,400), linen, alphabet and "Mary Rhodes" above "Oh you dear and pretty robin, how I love to see you" and numbers, central panel with Garden of Eden surrounded by animals, trees and flowers, "Worked by Mary Rhodes July 23, 1829" across bottom. First half 19th c.
17" x 12". Light fading, otherwise excellent condition.

Gruppe's works are well represented in North American and European museums including the National Gallery of Art, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Brooklyn Museum. Late 19th/early 20th c.
